You may have no-ticed their big colour adverts in local magazines and newspapers over thelast few years. This is Roadshow EU. The company buys vintage collectable watches, gold jewellery and big dia-monds from the public, always at secure five star hotels with security protection for their visitors. Who is behind this interesting idea? Husband and wife team, Morne Botes and Shani Petzer started the company a couple of years ago with Morne’s brother Ewil Botes. They have visited every major city in Europe with this concept.
They still manage four teams a week throughout Europe, with great success. High school sweethearts Morne and Shani are originally from South Africa. Aged 21, the couple moved to London.
Initially, Morne worked in accounting and soon built his network of customers from jewellery shops in London. Shani worked in her field of somatology and eventually opened her own Beauty Salon in Belsize Park, North London. The Botes family and their company donates 10% of their annual profits to charity, in 2008 they helped the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospi-tal Charity raise £115,000 in a jewellery auction. They also gave money to nu-merous charities in the UK, South Africa and Madeira. "We bought a wheelchair for the CAP Cancer charity in Marbella this month, we have always felt that we have been very blessed in life and we enjoy making a differencein people’s lives by helpingas much as we possibly can" says Botes. Roadshow EU will visit Cyprus for the 16th time next week.
Interesting points onRoadshow EU: - Unique Business. Roadshow EU is a very unique business and has been operating for over seven years., their main business, has and always will be vintagewatches.
- Gold. The past year they saw the price of gold reach record highs. This has brought out many cheap imitations of their business. Many shops nowoffer to buy scrap gold.
- Personal Touch. Why would you send your valuable jewellery in the post or speak to some person in a large processing centre?
Come and visit one of Roadshow EU’s events at a quality secure 5 star hotel and sit down with a professional buyer. They love to hear the history behind your items and offer the best possible prices. Registered Business If you do prefer to visit one of Roadshow EU’s competitors, please make sure that they are a registered business with a registered business address and CIF number.
Do not give your personal details to a company you cannot trust. Have fun But most important is to have a fun day out when visiting. Even if you have no intention of selling your items, go in for a chat and coffee and hopefully RoadshowEU can surprise you with their offers.

Roadshow EU is a Licensed precious metal buyer in Gibraltar, by the Gibraltar Goverment. CHAMBER WARNING ON CASH FOR GOLD Gibraltar Chronicle, 8 March 2010 The Chamber of Commerce (Gibraltar) says it has recently become aware of unlicensed traders in the jewellery business and is warning the public to be aware of the potential dangers of conducting business with such unlicensed traders. "First and foremost if members of the public want to sell unwanted jewellery to dealers, whether the dealers are local or from outside Gibraltar, it is wise to have items valued by at least two different jewellers to ensure that they get a fair price for each item," said a spokesman.
"If you are unhappy with the dealer's valuation do not accept it and tell the dealer you will go to a different dealer to get another valuation."
Secondly, the Chamber says you should only accept cash for your jewellery and never leave an item with a jeweller without a receipt. This is, it says, particularly the case if the dealer is from outside Gibraltar.
"It is extremely unwise to invite anyone unknown to them into their home to value any jewellery they may have," said the spokesman who said:
Ask yourself the following questions:
• Are they a legitimate dealer? • Are they offering a fair price? • Are they paying cash?
The Chamber would also reiterated to local traders in the business that if they are offered second hand jewellery they should be entirely satisfied of where the jewellery has come from and if in doubt ask the seller for proof or its source. |

Daar komen verzamelaars bijeen. Binnenkort wordt zo’n bijeenkomst in Munchen gehouden. “Nee, kopen doen we daar niet. Net zoals we hier niets verkopen.”
